PEMF therapy for Equines

May 15, 2019

PEMF therapy for equines has been applied since past 3 decades. Just as humans, horses and equines benefit greatly with regular pulsed electromagnetic field therapy. When it comes to equine health, race horse owners are most concerned as for them, animals are wealth. Equine athletes just as humans are examples of optimum health for the rest, and PEMF has been used extensively in barns that house equine athletes for longevity and performance enhancement benefits.

PEMF for horses is the only drug-free option to improve performance, relieve soreness & accelerate recovery. Since more than 10 years, TeslaFit PEMF machines are the secret of derby and world cup winners. Equine vets report long-term improvement in sprint, endurance, jump height as well as anti-ageing effects due to improved blood oxygenation and mitochondrial repair making TeslaFit an ideal tool for any equine owner. And it works great for equestrians too.

How does PEMF therapy work?

Pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy uses advanced electromagnetic coils that put out pulsating magnetic fields that are applied to the body. These magnetic fields are tuned to particular wave forms and frequencies that have been known to enhance recovery and performance.

To learn more about PEMF therapy’s effects, please refer to our about PEMF section. This will also help you understand that there are no negative effects of using and administering PEMF therapy to horses. If you’re holding a PEMF applicator while applying it to the horse, you’ll get some therapy too. If you find the field too strong, simply use gloves made from insulating material. The human body will utilize low-frequency PEMFs to regenerate, any excess energy will simply pass through1. TeslaFit PEMF machines are used by rehabilitation and wellness centers that understand the benefits of high-intensity PEMF therapy. Once you understand the basic actions of PEMF therapy, its easy to see the benefits and predict outcomes based on research presented in this article.

PEMF therapy for Equines

Sore, sick or injured horses will have a much better chance at complete recovery due to PEMF therapy’s rapid results for wound healing and bone repair2. Equine magnetic therapy is beneficial for horses for a variety of issues and also substantially enhances sports performance.

It is not uncommon for veterinarians to apply PEMF therapy for all sorts of equines at ranches, rodeos or race tracks. With research as early 1987 and articles published in reputed equine journals such as the Equine Veterinary Journal (EVJ), PEMF therapy has been proven beneficial in improving recovery and outcomes of bone grafts3 and musculoskeletal disorders. Thus, we see that PEMF machine is a great way for animal health centers to improve recovery for equine athletes and working or pet horses alike.

Horses can get depressed too and also can experience while travelling, and PEMF therapy is proven to improve mental health. Even in cases where it wouldn’t conventionally be possible to improve performance and recovery, PEMF therapy works due to its neuro-regenerative and brain health effects.

According  to a scientific report of PEMF Therapy on Wound Healing published in 2017 by In 2017 by the International Association of Animal Therapists, “There is clear evidence showing the efficiency of PEMF therapy treatment regarding its pain and stiffness relief, anti-bacterial and wound-healing properties. The rate at which all bacterial infection symptoms had been resolved and the rate at which the wound had healed and completely closed, leaving little to no scar tissue with complete and total hair-regrowth around and on the wound site itself, was astonishing and impressive. The attending/supervising veterinarian was completely amazed and very impressed with the speed of progress of the overall rate of recovery.

PEMF therapy regarding the treatment of any open wound, site of surgical treatment, any soft tissue strains or traumatic injuries, bacterial infection and hair-growth disturbances e.g. chaffing, dermatological disorders, injury, shaving, etc., is an important tool to have in your arsenal as animal physiotherapist or veterinarian.”

Further Findings

Apart from injury recovery and performance enhancement, veterinary rehabilitation centers should find PEMF therapy very effective for physical rehabilitation as indicated in this book, “The Veterinary Technician and Rehabilitation Pain Management” where they’ve studied the effects of pulsed electromagnetic field therapy for equine arthritis, bone and wound healing. Being a non-invasive therapy, PEMF therapy for horses is easy to apply and is usually loved by the animals, horses will lower their heads.

When it comes to animal wellness, PEMF is the ultimate tool due to its effectiveness in a variety of issues and cost effectiveness. Horses that don’t get sick and recover faster, live longer – simple. PEMF can be applied to any area of the horse’s body and does not require an expert to administer it. Our low-low frequency range below 10 Hz greatly prevent cellular death and enhance cell functions and mitochondrial health. That said, there are no special magnetic field therapy techniques that are needed. The only thing needed is a solid Equine PEMF machine that can be used regularly at the barn to treat multiple horses or in the stall for champs.

I was riding Anke, a 17 year old Dutch Friesian mare, 5 times a week until she torn a ligament in her right shoulder. She was not able to run anymore. The vet gave her injections and she had to rest. However, I started to search for alternative ways to improve the healing process and reduce her pain. I stumbled upon PEMF therapy for horses. There, I found the concept of stimulating tissue at a cellular level with magnetic therapy intriguing.

I was able to loan a PEMF machine from a family member who was using it for back problems. Anke’s shoulder needed to be treated with 2 times 10 minutes treatments a day. From the beginning on, she liked the magnetic pulse. I noticed immediate pain relief and reduced swelling after a couple of days. After 7 days she was slowly walking and the limping disappeared. I was thrilled to see my horse improving and being happy again, so I decided to buy the TeslaFit Plus Portable, in order to continue her PEMF treatments.

After 2 weeks of PEMF treatment she was galloping again! The vet took a CT-scan and saw the ligament was healed. Unfortunately Anke started to develop arthritis in her legs. I am now treating her legs 2-3 times a week, 10 minutes per leg. Hopefully I can stop or at least slowdown her arthritis. In the meantime I am running with her again 5 times a week. Through my experience I can highly recommend PEMF therapy for disease prevention and injuries.”

PEMF Review From Sherry

Here is a Equine PEMF review from Sherry. She is a horse trainer in Louisiana. She bought a couple of PEMF products from us years ago.

A love of animals from a very young age led me to a vocation as a thoroughbred horse breeder and licensed racehorse trainer.  I have had pets and many equine athletes in my care. The care of newborn foals, young horses in training, racehorses, as well as broodmares and stallions has been my responsibility.  My experiences with traditional approaches were frustrating.  Time and economics take precedence over prevention and cures.  The eagerness for quick and easy solutions often masks and suppresses symptoms without addressing the underlying cause.

Challenged to find alternatives; I began looking for a larger scope of concepts and ideas, with Magnetic field therapy the most exciting to me.  I purchased a human PEMF mat and began treating a stable of 40 racehorses. The success of my self-directed study convinced me to completely change my approach to natural choices for performance. This also included health and healing. Applying PEMF therapy, I have seen horses get well and recover from conditions considered hopeless from the traditional approach.

After my diagnosis of debilitating MS, I had a very bad fall, fractured my back and left the hospital in a wheelchair with no use of my left side.  Reflecting on my “impossible” accomplishments with horses; I began to treat myself.  Over a period of about six months and daily use of my PEMF mat I graduated from my wheelchair. Them I went to a walker, then to a four prong cane to sometimes a light cane.  Now; I own and operate an Equine PEMF Treatment Center and with the help of my assistant, I care for horses and give PEMF treatments to equines.  I have obtained and maintained health and soundness, while maximizing athletic performance and speeding recovery with no detrimental side effects.

PEMF THERAPY is an exciting and fast moving technology that continues to evolve.  In the past, devices that produced electromagnetic fields were large and dependent on a power cord. Research however; has shown the new and more affordable devices, some portable and powered by batteries, produce great healing effects.  I am fortunate to work with Dr. William Pawluk, a leading medical expert in this field. With his guidance and that of his colleagues we work to test and adapt human devices that will give us. This stays true for our horses and companion animals better health and faster recovery.

You can safely and simply administer PEMF THERAPY to yourself, your horse and your companion animal.
